I would like any up to date information on amalgam fillings and removal.
I believe in 2004 a cracked tooth, which was repaired ?and then removed
2days later, because of unbearable pain--has directly contributed to my wife's early onset
dementia,as she started to show noticeable signs within months after this event.
She still has a mouth full of heavily filled teeth. But has showed good signs after 2 teeth
were recently removed,due to cracking.
Regards Glenn

The penny has just dropped for me! Over an 8 month period from 2008 - 2009 I had all of my amalgam fillings removed. Every tooth except for my wisdom and front teeth were heavily filled, the vast majority since the 1960s when I was a child. I had them removed for cosmetic reasons and, whilst aware that there was controversy over health concerns I had never researched this.
Since I was a child I have experienced regular panic attacks in a range of situations (crowded places, closed in places eg lifts and planes, traffic jams), generalised anxiety in many situations particularly if I the focus is on me (eg doctor's appointments, public speaking) shyness, timidity, and lack of confidence. In the last 12 months my anxiety levels have plummeted. I didn't give it much thought (apart from feeling grateful!) and wondered if it was just a part of turning 50 and feeling more comfortable in my skin. But the change is so great that I started to wonder if it was something more, and began to think about what had changed for me. The only thing I could think of was having the fillings removed. This is what started me looking on the internet today.
I hope that my story is helpful to others who may be unable to really pinpoint a lack of well-being and groundless anxiety.
